A BIT MORE ABOUT ME

I can’t remember a time when I didn’t want to write for a living. Coupled with my innate curiosity about people, their lives and what makes them tick (ok, I’m nosy!) it made the world of women’s magazines a natural fit.  I’ve loved every moment, but my happiest years were at HELLO!, especially when I was covering weddings and introducing precious new family members.

 

Always a sucker for a love story, I was in my element interviewing celebrity brides and grooms like Rochelle and Marvin Humes, Girls Aloud’s Kimberley Walsh, JLS star and recent Strictly Come Dancing finalist JB Gill and – a real “pinch me” moment – the late, great Tina Turner, to name just a few. Among the proud mums who trusted me with their new baby stories were Emma Bunton, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Katie Piper.  To be told I’d captured these precious personal moments in their lives perfectly meant so much.

 

But one thing I’ve discovered as I hurtle towards my 60s is that embracing fresh opportunities is invigorating. It keeps you vital.  I was craving more; a new challenge - and thought long and hard about what I might be good at and what would make me happy. And that, dear reader, is how I found my calling to celebrancy!

 

I trained with the highly respected Civil Ceremonies Ltd (the only OFSTED Outstanding Provider in the field) for my Level 3 Diploma in Naming and Couples Celebrancy. Another passion was born!

Love is life's greatest treasure. Weddings, Civil Partnerships, Vow Renewals, Naming Ceremonies, whatever the celebration, at its heart, it’s a story of love. And to be entrusted by gorgeous people like you to bring that story to life in words ... well, that's a privilege.

 

Outside of work, home is a pretty, arty little town in north Essex, where I enjoy country strolls with my tiny but mighty rescue dog (especially if there’s a cosy pub lunch with friends at the end of it).

I’m Mum to an amazing grown-up daughter, who has been my greatest cheerleader since I made my career “pivot”.

 

Those I’ve worked with have been kind enough to describe me as warm, fun, professional and totally trustworthy. I’ll take that!
